In Jasc paintshop, there are many interesting pre-made effects are available. This gives every designers to create or edit images in a flexible manner. One of the useful effect is Drop shadow effect. Here i will explain about how to create a drop shadow for photos/images.

Steps:

• Open the picture you want to make drop shadow effect in jasc paintshop software.
• Open a new blank document with size just larger than the picture want drop shadow.
• Now select the picture window. You will see a panel at right side "Layers ". In that, you will see layer named "Background ".
• Drag the layer named " Background " and drop in the new blank document. You can directly drag it from the layers panel. [ This should be done because paintshop never creates drop shadow effect for background layers and for vector layers.
• Now select the new document window. At the layers panel, you can see a raster layer which contains the dropped picture.
• Select the raster layer, click "Effects " tab, get mouse over "3D effects " and select "Drop Shadow ".
• Set the shadow properties as you like and also have a look at the below picture for reference in setting the values.

Selecting the check box "Shadow on new layer " is important. By this, you can seperate the picture and its shadow layers. Otherwise, it will collage in single layer.
