Second way, by using masking tool -
Steps:
1. Open a new flash document with assigning background colour as #333333.
2. Create two layers. Name the top layer as "Text" and lower layer as
"Gradient"
3. On the first frame of the 'Text' layer make some word suppose to be
"EYESITESMEDIA".
4. On the first frame of the 'Gradient' layer make a rectangle shape of size
which must cover the word on the 'Text' layer as shown.

5. Now select the shape and apply linear black & white mixed gradient colour
to the shape.
6. Then select gradient transform tool and rotate the colour by 90°as shown
in fig(a).

7. Next, reduce the height as in fig(b).
8. By selecting the 'Text' layer, right click and click 'mask'. After this
your design should look like as below.
