Resizing:

It is always necessary to resize images to fit in to the applications. Resizing images with zero loss of quality is unattainable always. Any how keeping the loss of quality to minimum when resizing is achievable. Resizing is increasing or decreasing the number of pixels in an image. When increasing the pixels in an image, it is better to keep number of pixels to certain level for better results. After certain level say 30%, image quality may get decrease.

Steps:

• Open the picture you want to resize.
• Click " Image " tab and select "Resize " or press shift + S.
• On the resize property window you can specify the dimensions to resize in pixels and percentage.
• Keeping the check box "Lock aspect ratio " selected will gives you no change of shapes in an image.
• You can uncheck this at situations where change of shape is no matter.
• You can also adjust the dimensions of an image by following the print size
• Next important property have to set is resampling method. Paintshop offers five types of resampling methods namely Smart size, Bicubic, Bilinear, Pixel resize and weighted average.
• In my experiance, i have seen that weighted average method of resampling will give better resizing results for complex images.

Cropping:

Cropping tool is used to crop a selected area by removing unwanted area of an image.

Steps:

• Select the crop tool from the tool bar.
• At the upper value input box enter the dimension of crop area.
• You can also graphically select the crop area by click and drag on the area of the image to be crop.
• After defining the value, get mouse over the crop area and double click it and see the result.
